Retirement plan audits
In general, if your company’s retirement plan, such as a 401(k) plan, reaches a point in which it has 100 or more participants in the plan in any given year, you may be required to have the plan audited by an independent CPA. At Laney, Boteler and Killinger, we have several professionals that possess the knowledge to audit your retirement plan. The Center, sponsored by the American Institute of CPA’s, is designed to help CPAs better meet the challenges of performing quality ERISA employee retirement plan audits and its primary purpose is to promote the importance of quality ERISA employee retirement plan audits and the value of such audits to purchases of ERISA employee retirement plan audit services.
Franchise
If you are a franchisor, you may be aware of a requirement by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) that, after an initial period of time, your franchise operations should be audited by an independent CPA. This audit report is generally included as an exhibit in your Franchise Disclosure Documents (FDD), and filed annually.
